Trans Rights Readathon Starts Tomorrow!
I'm so excited for the Trans Rights Readathon this year! I've been coming my TBR pile looking for anything and everything that might possibly fit the theme... and, as expected, I have tons! These are some of the books I've got in the queue this year. (PSA: These are all books that I personally feel fit the prompt "by and/or featuring trans folks and/or narratives"... my reasoning for including books may or may not work for everyone, and that's okay. What we're NOT going to do this readathon is police identity, out authors who haven't made their identities public, or debate definitions of transness. Good? Good. Thanks!) Will I read all of these in the next 10 days? Probably not. But, I'm sure going to see how far I can get...
This year I'm raising money for the Transgender Law Center. I've pledged to donate $3 for every 50 pages I read (picture books I'm counting as 50 pages, just to make math less ornery), plus $1 per book I complete. My goal is to raise over $100... wish me luck!
Without further ado, here are a few of the kidlit books in my TBR pile this year. First up, picture books!

Not He or She, I'm Me by A. M. Wild, illustrated by Kah Yangni
If You're a Kid Like Gavin: The True Story of a Young Trans Activist by Gavin Grimm and Kyle Lukoff, illustrated by J Yang
Marley's Pride by Joëlle Retener, illustrated by DeAnn Wiley
My Sister, Daisy by Adria Karlsson, illustrated by Linus Curci
You Need to Chill by Juno Dawson, illustrated by Laura Hughes
Graphic novels, anyone?

Lunar Boy Jes and Cin Wibowo
Ink Girls Marieke Nijkamp and Sylvia Bi
Novels/Short Stories

Queen of the Conquered by Kacen Callender
Transmogrify: 14 Fantastical Tales of Trans Magic edited by g. haron davis
Bitter by awaeke emezi
Promises Stronger than Darkness by Charlie Jane Anders
And, if you can believe it, this list is maybe only about half of the stack of books I have on hand this year. I am READY! I'll keep you posted as I read about books I particularly enjoy, other books I'm hoping to get to, and exciting things I discover by reading what other folks are up to this readathon. What about you? Are you participating in the readathon this year? If so, what are you reading?
