Raising a Cup to Tabatha

Happy Poetry Friday! Today we're hosted by Tabatha. Hi Tabatha! You're awesome! This post is to celebrate you!

If you've seen or heard Hadestown (my favorite musical), you've probably had great catharsis when these lyrics, sung by Persephone came around:

Some birds sing when the sun shines bright

My praise is not for them,

But the one who sings in the dead of night,

I raise my cup to him.

Anais Mitchell really made a wonder with this one. Check out the song's original recording (pre-Broadway) here.

Anyhow. My point is, I'm so grateful to Tabatha for putting together her Brave poetry zine. I think releasing it this week, and creating it at all in this moment, is wonderful and brave in and of itself. If you haven't checked out her post today yet, which also features Brave, here's a link.

So, here's a poem to celebrate you Tabatha! The instant I saw this sticker, I knew it was meant for today. Thank you!

Poem on a postcard with a sticker of a red panda roaring and standing tall on a tree stump. The sticker says "do it scared." Poem text below.

TO TABATHA, RE: BRAVE

roar loud

louder, loudest

no one can silence you

you beautiful, stubborn, wayward

poet
